Fourth Street Watermain Valve Replacements & Lining

OVERVIEW

In advance of Fourth Street Traffic Calming works planned to be completed in 2026, the City is completing valve replacements and watermain rehabilitation on Fourth Street.


CONSTRUCTION IMPACT

There will be water service shutdowns and interruptions during construction. Some residents will be required to be on a boil water advisory for short periods - notices will be issued to affected residents. Fourth St will be closed to traffic from Temple St to Moss St. A vehicle detour will be in place from the Fourth St roundabout, to Eighth St, via Victoria Road and Moss St throughout the construction period. Notices will be delivered to impacted residents a minimum of 48 hours prior to planned shutdowns or road closures. Expect equipment noise and increased numbers of construction vehicles. Road closures and detours will be clearly marked with traffic cones, and traffic control persons when required. Please follow all detour routes, drive cautiously, and protect our cone zone workers.


ESTIMATED TIMELINE

  • Sept 15 - 24 – Remove asphalt, install waterworks at Downie & Edward intersections
  • Sept 24 - Oct 17 - Lining, testing, tie ins and asphalt restoration
