ABOUT THE PROJECT

The proposed Building Energy Efficiency of Revelstoke (BEER) Program is intended to support Revelstoke residents and local businesses in navigating and accessing grant and loan funding resources to complete building energy retrofits.

BACKGROUND

The City recently completed a Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP), which outlines a practical approach for the City to help residents and businesses save energy, money, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The CEEP identifies six Big Moves which focus on reducing emissions in the transportation, buildings, and waste sectors. One of the Big Moves in the buildings sector focuses on decarbonizing existing buildings through supporting deep energy retrofits and fuel switching (electrification).

Many of the homes and buildings in Revelstoke were constructed prior to 2000 and could see significant reductions in energy consumption and energy costs through the completion of efficiency retrofits. To support Revelstoke residents and small businesses in understanding what funding resources are available, the City has proposed the creation of the BEER Program.

WHAT IS THE BEER PROGRAM?

The proposed BEER Program is intended to be an online resource which can be used by residents and small business owners of Revelstoke to identify grant and loan funding opportunities which can support them in completing building energy retrofits.

The BEER Program will help users to navigate the wide variety of program options available and determine which resources are most suited to meet their home or building’s retrofit needs. The completion of these efficiency retrofits will support a reduction in energy use, costs, and community-wide greenhouse gas emissions.
